Lawrence Park

South of Lawrence, between Yonge Street and Bayview Avenue, lies this pretty neighbourhood of large homes and stately tree-lined streets. The beautiful homes, excellent schools and outstanding amenities such as the Crescent School, Toronto French School, Havergal College for girls, Rosedale Golf Club and the Granite Club are ideal for the executive and corporate families that live in this area.

The homes of Lawrence Park include a variety of architectural styles including English Cottage, Tudor Revival, Georgian and Colonial style designs. Most of the homes were built between 1910 and 1950. Recent teardowns and major renovations have made a difference in the neighbourhood; large custom homes of 4,000 to 7,000 square feet are being built on lots that previously had smaller houses. Fortunately, renovations have largely been sensitive to preserve the old world charm of the houses with leaded glass windows, wood trims around the door and window frames, decorative fireplace mantles and rich hardwood floors.

The neighbourhood is located in a very peaceful and tranquil setting that includes gently rolling hills, several parks, a ravine, winding roads and a lush topography. Lawrence Park's shops, schools and recreational facilities are located on the periphery, which keeps traffic on the residential streets to a minimum.

You’ll find great shopping and dining along the Yonge Street strip, which is a short walk for most residents. The high profile shops and restaurants in this area include fashion stores, children's stores, sporting goods stores, gift shops, bakeries, gourmet dining, casual restaurants and coffee shops.

Recreational opportunities abound; Lawrence Park has clay tennis courts and a lawn bowling club. Many of the neighbourhood's residents belong to the prestigious Granite Club, a sports and recreation centre on Bayview Avenue north of Lawrence Avenue. The Blythwood Ravine is a great spot for a walk, run or exercising the dog. For a lovely stroll on a summer’s evening, try Alexander Muir Gardens. Muir Gardens is connected to nature and cycling trails and has become the hot spot for wedding photographers.
