Also known as Rosedale Golf Club, this neighbourhood is situated between Yonge Street and the Riverview Drive Ravine, north of the Bedford Park area above Lawrence Avenue East. In 1909, the Rosedale Golf Club moved north from Rosedale, which inspired the building of high-end homes in the area. Since that time, this neighbourhood has been known for its pleasing proximity to the green space of the golf course and the surrounding ravines. It is an area prized for its old, majestic homes – and its comforting “country in the city” feeling, evoked by wide boulevards and plentiful, mature trees.
The houses in the area were built between 1910 and 1935; Tudor and Georgian architecture prevail. You’ll find the largest homes in the neighbourhood on Riverview Drive, where many back onto the picturesque Riverview Drive Ravine.
Yonge Street shopping is a short walk away for most residents. For fitness enthusiasts, the Bedford Park Community Centre is also nearby – it has an indoor pool and a gymnasium. Wanless Park is a good outdoor recreation area; on warm weather days, it’s a popular destination for tennis, baseball, basketball or just playing on the swings.
Golfers have two excellent courses to choose from. Rosedale Golf Club is a private facility; the nearby Don Valley Golf Course is available for public use.
